On 10 February 350 guests gathered on Lekwena Wildlife Estate for the first Lekwena Full Moon Charity Walk.
The family friendly nature of the event, the full moon and the magnificent setting in nature proved to be an excellent combination.
The route of approx. 10 km had a water and snack point every km and guests (especially with younger children) could turn around anytime.
The event was organized by Lekwena Wildlife Estate, The ALS Group and Engel & Völkers Potchefstroom. Registration could be done at the brand new Lekwena restaurant building, from where guests could start walking at their own leisure. Each entrant received a goody bag with an Engel & Völkers shopping bag, glow sticks and a Lekwena enamel mug. Early starters had the double privilege of witnessing the sunset on Lekwena as well as the full moon later on.

The route was on a paved road, making it pram-friendly and wheelchair-friendly as well. The water points provided powerade, water and a variety of snacks and sweets. At the turn-around mark on the route, guests were treated to a freshly brewed cup of ‘Lekwena coffee’ and cookies.
Finishing at the Lekwena restaurant – guests could enjoy the Potchefstroom Service Center's mouthwatering jaffels, ‘kerrie-&-rys’ and ‘boerewors rolls’ as well as coffee from Toro’s pop-up coffee stand, various beverages and Lekwena merchandise on sale.
The event was to the benefit of the Potchefstroom Service Center for the Aged and sponsor-partners included ER24 and MSM Films.
